Artist Biography

dkz475 is a Bulgarian virtual music artist creating dark fantasy music, cinematic music videos and atmospheric soundscapes. The project brings together original ideas, songs and visual stories inspired by dark fantasy, Bulgarian folklore, mythology, history and science fiction. The story sits at the centre: a character, a choice, a secret or a conflict, each given its own musical and visual world.

Dark fantasy is a core creative direction — a world of beauty and threat, magic and consequence, attraction and the unknown. Familiar fairy-tale figures and legends become a starting point for new interpretations. Alongside them there are historical plots, sea adventures, lost civilisations and futuristic landscapes. Bulgarian themes live side by side with stories that reach beyond any specific time or place.

The music is not limited to a single genre. The catalogue includes vocal songs, atmospheric ambient compositions, rock, electronic and pop sounds, as well as folk influences. Some works rely on a memorable melody and direct emotion; others build tension and mood gradually. The genre is chosen to fit the story, and experimenting is part of the creative process. Ambient is one direction within the project, not a definition of all of its work.

The music videos are an essential part of this approach. Faces, costumes, settings, light and movement take part in the storytelling together with the music. From a close look at a character to a large-scale fantastical world, the visual choices aim for a clear atmosphere and a dramatic moment. A song can be listened to on its own, while the video adds characters, action and another perspective to it.

Titles in the catalogue include “Across the Seven Seas”, “Kaliakra”, “Valchan”, “Gina and the Djinn”, “Insert Coin”, “Apocalypse”, “Yalala” and “Three Notes”. They show different sides of the project — from Bulgarian legends and adventure stories to fantastical plots and musical experiments. Full music videos and short formats offer different ways of meeting these ideas; some short works are standalone creative tests.

The creative process combines human artistic direction with tools for AI-assisted music and visual production. Developing the concept, choosing the direction, selecting the results, reworking and editing shape the final piece. Technology is part of the way of working, while the guiding question remains how the music and the image can convey a particular story and feeling.
