The story

An immortal elven sorceress who is endlessly bored. For ten thousand years she has watched the same stars, sung the same songs and seen the mortals pass away while she remains. Skeletons, wolves, demons and a dragon attack her — she knocks them down with her staff, barely looking. Only once does she cast the great spell, and only once does she ask a mortal: what is the end?

Lyrics

Neo-Sindarin (Tolkien's Elvish, fan-reconstructed).

Cenin Anor, cenin Ithil,

I see the sun, I see the moon,

cenin elin bain.

I see the beautiful stars.

Ennin, ennin arnoediad,

Years, countless years,

a im darthon sí.

and I remain here.

Im alfirin, alfirin,

I am immortal, immortal,

nae, ú-velin i uir.

alas, I do not love eternity.

Aníron i methed,

I long for the end,

sui firiath.

like the mortals.

Glirin i 'lîr iaur,

I sing the old song,

glirin, glirin, ad.

I sing it, sing it again.

Firiath gwannar, im darthon,

The mortals pass away, I remain,

ú-chebin estel.

I keep no hope.

Rhîw ab rhîw, laer ab laer,

Winter after winter, summer after summer,

pedo nin, fír:

tell me, mortal:

manen i methed?

what is the end?

Na vedui?

At last?

Ú-na vedui.

Never at last.
