The story
"Pedal to the Metal" is a song about a night drive: the key clicks, the traffic lights blink, and next to you sits the person who shares your rhythm.
The tyres squeal in the bends, the mistakes are left in the ditch, and the night belongs to us. Full throttle, dirty gas — and no brakes at all.
Lyrics
Original Bulgarian lyrics with English translation.
Verse 1
The key clicks, I start it right away,
you're beside me, and the car's the prize.
The traffic lights blink, I floor it,
the seat is soft, I lean back and relax.
Wind in the windows, I grip the gear stick,
I'll plot it all out on the map.
Tyres on the asphalt, but I hold my course,
a little longer and I'll burn up.
Pre-chorus
Tell me again that you're here,
that this rhythm is our sound.
One more second and I launch ahead,
my heart beats with the crazy rhythm.
Chorus
Full throttle, dirty gas,
me and you, you and me.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
there are no brakes for us.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
I'll take off in ecstasy.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
the night is ours, I'm telling you.
Verse 2
I swerve through the bend, you laugh out loud,
and while I drive I fall into ecstasy.
The tyres squeal, but I listen to you,
guide me down the road like a strategist.
We've made mistakes, but forget them today,
leave them in the muddy ditch.
Your eyes are a green wave —
in the end, alas, I'll be driving alone.
Pre-chorus
Tell me again that you're here,
that this rhythm is our sound.
One more second and I push ahead,
my heart beats in a cursed rhythm.
Chorus
Full throttle, dirty gas,
me and you, you and me.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
there are no brakes for us.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
I'll take off in ecstasy.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
the night is ours, I'm telling you.
Bridge
No questions now, we're on the road,
only you beside me, in daylight and dark.
Even when I fall, you lift me up again,
at the risk of being a total maniac.
Finale
Full throttle, dirty gas,
me and you, you and me.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
there are no brakes for us.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
I'll take off in ecstasy.
Full throttle, dirty gas,
the night is ours, I'm telling you.
