The story
"With the Current" is a dark pop song built around an image familiar from ancient myths — the ferryman who carries souls across the river to the other world.
The narrator promises no paradise. She carries her passengers without end, knows all their names and tells them they are not alone in the dark. She has many names, but prefers silence.
At the end, looking at her reflection in the water, she reveals her greatest secret: "I was one of you."
Lyrics
Original Bulgarian lyrics with English translation.
Verse 1
You still search for your city,
your eyes keep looking back.
Different faces emerge there,
mouths open — then fall silent.
Chorus
I promise no paradise.
I'll carry you without end.
I know all your names;
you are not alone in the dark.
Verse 2
I raise no finger, make no sign.
The wood obeys me once again.
I have many names,
but I prefer silence.
One of you opens his eyes
and wants to speak with me.
I look at myself in the water —
I was one of you.
Chorus
I promise no paradise.
I'll carry you without end.
I know all your names;
you are not alone in the dark.
